Rootstock & Plant Progress

Many types of Fruit trees are grafted. Grafted specimens are a deliberate fusion between scion cultivars, chosen for their desirable fruit characteristics, and rootstocks selected for specific traits such as disease resistance or adaptation to specific soil conditions. I am particularly interested in establishing a list and record of the rootstock and plant varieties I have within the gardens I cultivate. The reason why is because this data will allow for a systematic evaluation of their suitability for future propagation efforts. Additionally, I aim to quantify the impact of each rootstock on overall tree performance, including factors like growth rate, yield, and fruit quality. I will also include additional notes like scion cultivars attached to each rootstock as well as surrounding plants that are grown around the base of the trees.
